Today, Thursday 29 May 2025, an extraordinary meeting of IDIBAPS\u2019 Board of Trustees was held in which Dr\u00a0Susana Puig<\/strong>\u202fwas appointed the new director of the institution.\u202fPuig<\/strong>\u202fis replacing Dr\u202fEl\u00edas Campo<\/strong>, who has held the position since 2017. The new director was chosen after an international call and an open selection process.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Susana Puig<\/strong>\u202fis the leader of the IDIBAPS research group Melanoma: imaging genetics and immunology<\/a>, the head of the Dermatology Department at Hospital Cl\u00ednic Barcelona and a professor at the University of Barcelona. This triple affiliation confirms the campus model that integrates Research, Teaching and Assistance and that will continue with the construction of the new Campus Cl\u00ednic – UB on Diagonal in Barcelona in the coming years. She is also a group leader at CIBERER and a board member of several scientific societies. She graduated in Medicine from the University of Barcelona and specialised in Dermatology in 1992, earning her doctorate in 2000. She has participated in over 30 competitive research projects and more than 50 clinical trials, which have led her to publish more than 500 scientific articles and direct nearly 40 PhD theses and Master\u2019s theses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is the first time in IDIBAPS\u2019 nearly thirty-year history that a woman holds this position. The previous directors have been Drs.\u202fJoan Rod\u00e9s<\/strong>,\u202fRamon Gomis<\/strong>\u202fand\u202fEl\u00edas Campo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
